Course Description: This study of the book of Joshua will investigate the various issues bearing on the book’s proper interpretation so that the application of the book to the daily life of the believer will be enhanced, resulting in a deeper appreciation of God’s grace and power.

Lawson Younger, Jr. (PhD. Sheffield University) is Professor Emeritus of Old Testament, Semitic Languages, and Ancient Near Eastern History at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of Trinity International University, Deerfield, Illinois. A specialist in Assyriology, Aramaic, and Hebrew Bible, Younger has published numerous works involving ancient Near Eastern texts and their relationship to the Hebrew Bible. He is the author of A Political History of the Arameans: From their Origins to the End of Their Polities (2016), the Winner of the Biblical Archaeology Society 2017 Publication Award for Best Scholarly Book on Archaeology. He is also the author of Ancient Conquest Accounts: A Study of Ancient Near Eastern and Biblical History Writing (1990), and Judges, Ruth (2002; 2nd edition, 2021). He is the associate editor of the three-volume The Context of Scripture: Canonical Compositions, Monumental Inscriptions and Archival Documents from the Biblical World (Brill), the editor of volume 4 of The Context of Scripture: Supplements (2016), the editor of Ugarit at Seventy-Five (2007), and the co-editor of The Canon in Comparative Perspective (1991), Mesopotamia and the Bible: Comparative Explorations (2002), and “An Excellent Fortress for his Armies, a Refuge for the People”: Egyptological, Archaeological and Biblical Studies in Honor of James K. Hoffmeier (2020). He has also contributed to numerous collections of essays, dictionaries and journals.

He is a past trustee of the American Schools of Oriental Research, as well as an active member of the American Oriental Society, the International Association of Assyriology, the Society of Biblical Literature, and the Biblical Colloquium. Among his many scholarly papers, he has given lectures at the British Academy, the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at New York University, the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago, the Vorderasiatisches Museum (Pergamonmuseum, Berlin), the Israel Museum (Jerusalem), the University of Texas, Austin, and the Israel Institute for Advanced Study. He was the Seymour Gitin Distinguished Professor at the Albright Institute of Archaeological Research in Jerusalem, Israel (2012–13). He has a new book in press (Aramean Religions: Models of Flexibility and Adaptability).

Presented by: Mr. Steve Tatro, of Retirement Resources Texas, who is a member of FBG. The Medicare presentation is the basics of what, how, when of Medicare.   With some handouts on extras and education on deadlines to
avoid penalties, eligibility,  Original Medicare that you have versus Advantage plans, calendar dates  and rules on coverage.  I will use the approved generic educational slideshow that doesn't mention any particular company or product.

Assisted Living / Homebound Ministry

Phone calls, visits, music, ministry, and communion in the home are offered to those who are unable to get out. Your participation is welcome.  For more info click HERE.  Since May, 2022 we've been leading a weekly service each Tuesday at 2pm at Grand Living Georgetown, right across the street from our church.  Please email  if you are interested in serving.

GENERATIONS

The definition of generation is “People born and living about the same time, considered as a group.”  Multiple generations attend FBG and it’s our desire to be an intergenerational church, where all the generations get to know each other and worship and serve together. Our Generations Ministry offers opportunities for 55+ and encourages intergenerational ministry and cooperation throughout our church body. We encourage you to use this season of life to wholeheartedly invest in your relationship with Jesus Christ, develop meaningful friendships, and to serve the church body.
